Young People

Are you a young person looking for a career?

What could you do next?...

Whether your exam results were top of the class or making you want to run and hide – don't worry, focus on the results you really want. You could have a career that can be long and rewarding.

Talk to the people that can help and advise you – whether it’s your parents, Connexions, a teacher or anyone you know and trust – and look at the options open to you.

Ask yourself

  • What would I really like to do
  • What has been the subject that has kept my attention and enthusiasm?
  • What do I do in my spare time?
  • What do other people that I know do that looks interesting to me?
  • Do I want to develop a career or just find any job?
  • Am I prepared to put the effort in to study while I work?

Lots of young people want to start earning but find after a number of years that not considering their “education” has resulted in their earnings capping off at a very early age. Taking an apprenticeship position can give the best of both worlds so you earn while you learn and gain recognised qualifications that enable you to increase your value to employers and in lots of cases give you the skills to maybe be your own boss and employ your own staff in the future.

So remember, think what you really want to do and make the right choice for you
